| Yayyyy I passed my HESI exam yesterday!!! It's a test that my
nursing program requires for students to pass before they are allowed
to graduate. The rationale is that if the students can pass the
HESI, then they are more likely to pass the NCLEX-RN (the actual state
board you have to pass in order to get your nursing license) on the
first try. It's stupid I know, but yayyyyy I've jumped through the last
hoop! I get to graduate in May and then go home! *sniff!*

| Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

| Today I filled up my car at $2.99 a gallon. That's the highest
price for gas that I've had to pay since I've moved to the South.
What's goin on?

| Something learned this week: perspective is a difficult thing to come by during a crisis.
At first, I was upset that I have to watch the California fires in
Alabama and not be with my family. I was in a near panic at times
wondering if my friends were okay. Then I got angry because none
of my classmates or friends around here understood what I was fussing
about. "Don't you guys have fires over there all the time?"
"I'm sure that the firefighters over there have it under more control
than you think" "You have to move on with your life"
But then again, being in this region I can't help but think about
Katrina and how I reacted when I first heard about that event.
Truth is that I was sad for New Orleans but I didn't really care.
It wasn't until I moved here and saw with my own eyes the extent of the
damage and heartbreak. People are still suffering from the
aftershock: flood-stained skeletons of structures still stand and cases
of post traumatic stress disorder are scattered along the gulf
coast.
So I guess my point is that a person has to care about a community
first in order to really understand what is going on when disaster
hits. Southern California is taking such a hard hit right now,
and my prayers go out to the people, firefighters, and administrative
leaders there. However, I also need to remember that there are
far fewer casualties and bodily injuries in this event than in Katrina
as yet, and let's hope that it stays that way.

| My oh my... it's already October?! Someone stop the clock already!
On a random note, one gram of water is about one milliliter. (Who woulda
thought that I would need to know that for nursing school? But
noooo it was on my final today... sheesh.)
